What does an inheritance lawyer charge in Spain?

The most searched question in the sector and the one almost nobody answers. Here are the numbers, how they are calculated, and which costs are ours and which are not.

Our ranges

First assessment: €0. We review the documents and tell you whether you have a case, what deadlines apply and what it would cost. No obligation.

Uncontested estate: from €1,200. Full handling: certificates, inventory, partition deed, notary, inheritance tax, municipal capital gains and Land Registry.

Inheritance tax filing only: from €450.

Contested estate: on quote. Fixed written quote before any work begins.

Why we do not charge a percentage

Charging 3 % to 7 % of the estate is common practice, and we do not think it is defensible.

The work depends on the number of heirs, the type of assets, whether there is a dispute and whether there is a cross-border element. It does not depend on the value. Handling a €200,000 flat and a €600,000 flat takes practically the same effort.

What is not our fee

Inheritance tax, municipal capital gains, notary and registry fees, certificates and valuations are third-party costs. They appear in our quote estimated and listed separately.

About this guide.

Is the first consultation free?+

Yes. The first assessment is not charged: we review the documents, explain the position and give you a quote. If there is no case, we say so.
